5 Tips to Help You Feel Prepared for Your Next Job Interview

5 Tips to Help You Feel Prepared for Your Next Job Interview

Hi Girlies,

Seasoned professionals, newbies or just looking for a little reminder? We have 5 top tips to help you ace your interview…

Tip 1: (Before the Interview) Print out and annotate the job description for the role you are applying for. Write down examples from previous roles of how you have achieved or are working towards the skill. If you don’t have experience with one of the required skills, show interest in how you could develop your knowledge and understanding.  This will help prepare you for the evidence based questions in the interview.

Tip 2: (On the day) If you feel comfortable to, wear something with a pop of colour to show a little bit of your own personality or your own style.  Dress more formally than you think you may need to.  If you do get the job, you will be able to ask how the company likes its employees to present themselves and dress accordingly when you start the role.

Tip 3: (On the day) Don’t show up more than 15 minutes before your interview (unless you have been asked to).  It is great to show that you are prepared and invested in the role, but showing up too early could make the interviewer feel rushed or imply you have mistaken the interview time.

Tip 4: (During the Interview) Have 4 or 5 questions to ask at the end of the interview.  Have a set of questions memorised or noted down as this will allow you to still ask something that hasn’t been discussed even if the majority have been answered throughout the interview.

Tip 5: (Post Interview) If you are interviewing for lots of jobs at once, save the notes you make and adapt them for another job role/company.   Rewriting everything again could take up valuable preparation time!

Bonus Tip: If you get any feedback from an interview process, note this down so that you can review how to work on these points for another job interview.
