
How to feel your best self in the winter months...a letter from me to you

Hi Girlies,
Less sun, more rain, (particularly if you live in the UK) is fairly typical for the winter months. The lack of sunlight and shorter days can sometimes feel endless and lead to a decrease in motivation. This is fine! The Girlies Collective are here to help with some pointers on how to feel your best self in the winter months.
Looking after your physical health is so important particularly in the colder months as illness is more common during the winter. Have you considered supplements? Now, I am not the person to suggest who should take what, but I would recommend speaking to a professional in a health food shop or pharmacy about what nutrients would be beneficial for you to top up on during this season. For women and men this could be different, but a highly recommended option during the colder season is Vitamin D.
Next up, mental health. Christmas typically involves socialising with friends and family, eating and drinking which of course can be super fun! But overbooking your calendar in the festive months can also be draining for your social battery. Giving yourself time to step away from an event if you feel overwhelmed or under pressure is totally valid or even saying no to something entirely! This could also involve declining an alcoholic drink if you would prefer to spend the evening sober. Remember, no is a complete sentence.
Lastly, you may hear the words ‘new year, new me’ a lot on social media in the coming weeks. For some, this is the perfect opportunity to kick start their a new journey and they feel motivated by the new year to become a better version of themselves. And that is great… but this might not feel the same for everybody. If it takes you until February to set yourself some goals for 2025, this is just as valid and important. But also if you are reading this in November or December, you can start now? If there is an area of your life you want to make a change in, why wait? But also there is no requirement to suddenly change yourself just because January has rolled around again. Keep doing what works for you and makes you happy.
Just remember, you are not alone. Everything passes, spring will arrive and summer will follow.
