
stress awareness month... TGC's perspective

Hi Girlies,
April is 'Stress Awareness Month'. I wasn't actually aware of this until recently which is kind of ironic as I quite often find myself in quite a 'stressed state'. Typically this 'stressed state' is linked to a period of change I am experiencing or a particularly high pressure situation. I know a lot of other girlies feel the same way when they are apprehensive about an upcoming challenge and I want to see if I can help.
It's important to acknowledge that these challenges can be hard to tackle when you are in an environment where you feel that you can't show your emotions and in some ways have to mask how you are feeling.
I have noted down some tools that I have found really helped me in the *tricker moments*
- Having something to fidget with. The most wearable fidget toy could be a ring or bracelet. Often what was has been purchased for me by others can be really grounding as it holds sentimental value.
- The power of a deep breath. This sounds so simple and obvious but it can do wonders to help you feel back in control by taking a few meaningful breaths.
- Allowing time to decompress. This is going to be personal to you and materialize in a variety of different ways depending on your situation. At the end of the day, some things in life are big and you need to give yourself a moment to pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for getting through!
Ultimately girlies, everybody is different and will be able to cope and sometimes thrive in different states of urgency. The most important part of managing your stress is to work out your boundaries and understand how to feel comfortable with protecting those.
